L28: Reconfigurable high-confidence medical devices
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
Services: development of innovative reconfigurable systems dedicated to the interoperability of different medical devices. It supports the multidisciplinary research and development level aiming to create high confidence medical devices, software and systems. The medical IT system development causes a significant change of paradigm: if at first it was a question only of passive devices controlled by a human operator, now we can speak about complex systems incorporating reconfigurable devices, sensors and actuators which dynamically control the medical functions and processes. All information taken from sensors, communication, reconfigurable modeling and calculation and perfect integration with physical elements and processes leads up to a new class of "cyber-physical" systems with a high degree of functionality and adaptability. The services of this lab can be achieved with the equipment composed of: • eHealth sensor platform for Arduino, Raspberry PI and Intel Galileo dedicated to medical devices. • Brain Computer Interface systems by g.Tech • Brain Computer Interface Emotiv Systems (Scientific Contextual EEG) • FPGA Artix-7 development boards • 3D CubeX Trio printer • CAD/CAM –Solid Works software • USB Oscilloscopes, GPS Receptors, graphical displays, WiFi Interfaces, ultrasounds detectors, digital gyroscopes, accelerometers, stepper motor controllers • 10 workstations

Software is increasingly used in all fields of the industry, in education and in everyday life. Paradigms are shifting towards using software as a flexible way to develop and improve existing activities: software defined networking, software stores, apps for almost every aspect of our professional and personal life. Due to the prominence of software, our lab focuses on research and development activities dealing with software, particularly systems software and systems security. Systems software is the vital piece of software upon which the other layers are based; we focus on performance, support for features in modern hardware, virtualization and support for embedded/mobile devices. We pay particular focus to systems security, to building secure systems, evaluating and hardening existing systems. Our expertize is on mobile application and OS security, Internet of Things, virtualization, offensive security and vulnerability analysis. We collaborate with researchers in top research institutions (EPFL, TU Darmstadt/CASED, NCSU), with professional communities (FreeBSD, OWASP) and well known industry players (Ixia, Cisco, Freescale). Equipments: 8 workstations, Arduino Mega 2560 v3, Arduino Yun, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, WaspMote, communication shields, radio modules for WiFi, BLE, LoRaWAN, Zigbee, 802.15.4, Ethernet, RFID chip, card and card reader, sensors, Cisco IR910 with ACC-IR910-LORA-868, Cisco 819 ISR, Mac mini, iPhone 4.

L24: Data Security and Services in Complex Networks
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
Cloud computing promises cost-effective and efficient (large scale) usage of storage and computing resources. However, a serious concern about cloud computing is the protection of client’s data and computations against various attacks from outsiders as well as from insiders (e.g., the cloud administrators). Particularly the latter requires a high level of trust in the cloud provider, since the cloud provider is able to access all cryptographic keys stored in images of its clients. On the other hand, cloud clients are rather limited in implementing, deploying and controlling their own security and privacy measures in the cloud. This challenge has motivated many researchers to investigate a variety of security aspects in cloud computing in the recent years. This lab considers selected topics in cloud security, and creates possible security architectures and technologies that, under reasonable assumptions, enable the cloud clients to be in control of the provisioning and usage of their credentials and cryptographic primitives in the cloud.

PuzzleBox Orbit Helicopter
CATALOG NAME:
PuzzleBox Orbit
DESCRIPTION:
The "Cognitive Robotics Applied in Assistive Medicine Laboratory" has a PuzzleBox Orbit Helicopter. The Puzzlebox Orbit is a brain-controlled helicopter thorugh the use of a MindWave Mobile EEG headset. So, users can fly the Orbit by focusing their concentration and clearing their mind. Colorful visuals and physical feedback help provide positive reinforcement while developing skills of attention and mental relaxation. What makes the Puzzlebox Orbit unique however is the open release of all source code, hardware schematics, 3D models, and the step-by-step hacking instructions which are published freely online. Puzzlebox Orbit features a unique spherical design that protects helicopter blades from unintended impact with objects such as walls and ceilings, while lending a pleasantly technical aesthetic. Features: A Mobile EEG headset is required to communicate with the device over Bluetooth. Software then extracts and visualizes your brainwaves in realtime. Command signals are issued to the Orbit via an infrared adapter connected to the audio port (for compatibility with Apple's iOS). The user can select a "flight path" for the helicopter (such as "hover in place" or "fly across the room") to be carried out whenever a targeted personal mental state is detected and maintained.
