DESCRIPTION:
The high pressure extraction unit HPE-CC 500 is a multipurpose system for research and development. It is designed to study either solid extraction or counter-current extraction of harmless liquid feeds by use of supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2). The equipment is divided into three sections: 1. Section A for extraction of a liquid in a high-pressure counter-current column. The extraction column has Sulzer CY type packing, a capacity of 3.9 L and an internal diameter of 38 mm. The operating limits in this section are the extraction temperature of 100 ºC and the extraction pressure of 300 bar. 2. Section B for solid extraction. The extraction vessel has a capacity of 3.2 L. The operating limits in this section are the extraction temperature of 120 ºC and the extraction pressure of 500 bar. 3. Section C for liquid – gas separation. The separation vessel has a capacity of 1.2 L The operating limits in this section are the temperature of 80 ºC and the pressure of 150 bar. This unit allows the use of liquid and solid plant materials for isolation and recovery of target compounds with high biological and economic value.

High pressure viscosimeter HP – vis500

DESCRIPTION:
The high pressure viscometer HP-vis500 is designed for viscosity measurements at elevated pressures and temperatures. Gases and liquids may be used and saturated/mixed in a movable piston accumulator. An automatic syringe pump is used to create a constant flow of the fluid. The pressure is regulated and released by a manual back pressure regulating system with a buffer vessel using a compressible fluid e.g. nitrogen. The viscosity range of the capillary tubes is between 0.1-100 mPa•s. The pressure difference is measured between the in- and outlet of a capillary tube coil enabling the determination of the viscosity.
